NORTH FORK, NY — A kayaker was rescued from the Long Island Sound Sunday, police said.
According to Southold Town police, at about 2:54 p.m., a report came in about a a kayaker who had become separated from his party in the Long Island Sound and could not be located.
Officers responded and deployed the Southold Town Police Department's drone to assist in the search, police said.
The kayaker was located and responding marine units were directed to his location, police said.
The kayaker was safely brought to shore and reunited with his party, police said.
The Greenport Fire Department also responded to assist with the search, police said.
