Artist Talk with Terrence Joyce: From Inspiration to Applause -- How Spirit is Invoked, Involved and Transmitted in Art

Artist Terrence Joyce will be discussing the process of his
current work for St. Agnes Chapel, the triptych "My Kingdom is Not of This World,"

Mr. Joyce will display many of the studies he has been
working on for the mural, both drawings and paintings. He will tell how they
guide the artist to the final painting.  Many of the figure models Joyce has used for
the project are local residents who have in unexpected ways influenced the
complexity of figures within this mural.

Joyce describes the triptych as Christ before Pilate. "Surrounded
by his mother and disciples, Pilate and Roman centurions, the mob outside and a
galaxy of His army of angels, Christ stands central. The theme is a point in
Christ's journey where he states with clear meaning who He is and who He is not.
He stands willing to walk the walk of all His previous words. The two side
panels, a nativity and a resurrection, always accompanied by angels, emphasize
the centrality of this moment in time.
