Beloved Local North Fork Family Opens 2nd Barber Shop In Mattituck

NORTH FORK, NY — A beloved local family has expanded their business and added a second shop in Mattituck.

Bill and Mari Hallock, who own the Southold Barber Shop, located at 56025 Main Road, opened the doors this week to a second location, Barber Shop Near Me / Hallock's Hair Mill, located at 10200 Main Road in Mattituck.

Bill Hallock said his entire family is excited about the new spot. "We opened a second location to expand our great service further west," he said. "Our new location is conveniently found next to CVS and Chase Bank."

The barber shop offers the same top-notch services provided in Southold, including hair cuts, scissor cuts, clipper cuts, fades, and hot towel shaves.

The business of being a hometown barber is deeply rewarding, Hallock said. "The most fulfilling part is when our client enjoys the experience, and then, the haircut makes them feel great about themselves," he said. "And we see the same smiling faces returning and telling their friends and family to see us."

There's nothing better, Hallock said, than shooting the breeze with clients old and new, talking about grandchildren, weddings, sports, games, cars, "anything really," he said — the moments big and small that make up people's lives.

"The stories are great," he said. "We talk about whatever the client wants to talk about. Some are funny, some are advice — sometimes we are giving advice."

Hallock said he particularly loves sharing his dream right alongside his wife Mari. "Working with each other is great," he said. "We hope our two sons will be working with us one day. Our oldest can start cutting in a few years."

Hallock, who is also a member of Southold Fire Department, has deep roots in town. Down the line, he dreams of possibly expanding the size of both shops, his future firmly planted in the place his family will forever call home.

For Hallock, the barber shops symbolize the best of life in a small town, where memories are woven into every haircut and generations return, time and time again, to share their stories and their dreams.

To his hometown community, Hallock had a message: "We hope to see you soon. Our family considers our friends and neighbors family, too. Stop in for a haircut — and a chat."

Both barber shop locations are open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
