“Rebels and Redcoats” Long Island History Hunt Challenge

Southold Historical Museum is proud to be a stop on the 2026 Long Island History Hunt, a region-wide Revolutionary War adventure running May 23 – September 30.

Visit the Museum’s Maple Lane Campus (55200 Main Rd.), and learn about the role Jared Landon played in Southold during British occupation. Snap a selfie by the iconic red museum sign, and upload it to complete the challenge. Explore 26 historic sites across Long Island and compete for prizes—including a grand prize of $1,776 plus museum memberships and merch.

All challenges are outdoors, so you can play anytime. Pick up your free collectible Revolutionary-themed trading cards when you visit each location! It’s a great way to get out and learn about Long Island history.
