Southold Historical Museum is hosting a special summer exhibit Saturdays only 1PM to 4PM in JULY (except July 4) at the Maple Lane Campus, 55200 Main Road, Southold, NY.
Visitors are invited to view Red, White & Blue, a special textile exhibit featuring contemporary quilts alongside vintage American flags. The display highlights the artistry, craftsmanship, and enduring symbolism of these textiles, offering a unique look at how the colors red, white, and blue have been expressed through fabric and design over time.
Join us on Saturday, July 18 at 1:00 PM for a fascinating lecture with mixed-media textile artist Amy Orr.
Orr creates striking, intricate works from unexpected post-consumer materials—credit cards, twist ties, even shattered auto glass—transforming everyday discards into pieces that echo traditional textile patterns like quilting. Her work thoughtfully reinterprets “women’s work” through a modern, sustainable lens.
Her art has been exhibited internationally and right here in Southold, and she has held roles as a faculty member at Moore College of Art and Design and Director of FiberPhiladelphia.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to hear about her creative process and artistic journey. Preregister on our website, under "Events".
Please check in at the Ann Currie-Bell House. There is a fee of $5 person or $10 /family, which also includes entrance to the other special exhibits, historic buildings, and Horton Point Lighthouse Nautical Museum.
Be sure to visit our other special 250th exhibits in the Mayne Gallery at the Ann Currie-Bell House and at the Nautical Museum!
