Calves Rescued From Backyard 'Junk Heap,' 1 Tied To RV: Shelter
"It took the whole village to get these guys loaded up and to the safety and comfort of our facility." — North Fork Animal Welfare League.

NORTH FORK, NY — Two calves were rescued from a "dangerous" yard filled with debris and abandoned cars in Riverhead Wednesday, the North Fork Animal Welfare League said.
According to a post on the NFAWL's Facbook page: "A very concerned good Samaritan called to report two calves, one loose and one tied up to a dilapidated RV."
Riverhead Police and the NFAWL responded to find the calves in the yard. "They were in a backyard junk heap, full of abandoned cars and other dangerous garbage. After some discussion, the owner of the property surrendered these two lovely babies to the League," the NFAWL said.
