Candidate Profile: Kelly Fogarty For Southold Tax Receiver

SOUTHOLD, NY — Suffolk County residents will be hitting the polls soon to elect local representatives.

The race is on in local town and village races leading up to Election Day, which, this year, falls on Tuesday, November 5. Patch asked those running for office to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles in the days leading up to the election.

Kelly J. Fogarty, 55, of Mattituck, is a Republican also running on the Conservative and Independence lines for Southold Town Tax Receiver. She is running unopposed.

Fogarty and her husband Jim have three grown children: Dan, 29, Mally, 24, and Sarah, 21. She earned a BBA in Accounting from the University of Georgia and has been a Certified Public Accountant for 29 years.

Patch: The single most pressing issue facing our community is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Fogarty: The single most important issue is to keep Southold, Southold. I intend to bring my experience and leadership to the receiver’s office to continue the hard work that has kept Southold fiscally sound.

P: What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

F: I am very active in the community, holding leadership positions in civic, charitable, religious, and professional organizations. I have established and maintained my tax, accounting, and financial consulting practice in Mattituck for the past 19 years.

P: The best advice ever shared with me was ...

F: "Never stop learning and growing as a person. Always be sincere and always do your best."

P: What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

F: Past president of the Mattituck Laurel Library Board of Trustees; treasurer of the North Fork Environmental Council, Mattituck Chamber of Commerce, Friends of the Mattituck Laurel Library, East End Livestock and Horsemen’s Assoc., and Mattituck Community Fund; and catechist for Sacred Heart Parish for 15 years.
