Capital One's Greenport Branch Closing In May
How do you feel about the Capital One bank branch closing in Greenport?

GREENPORT, NY — Capital One's Greenport branch will be closing soon.
According to a letter sent out to customers, the branch, located at 230 Main Street in Greenport, is slated to close on May 9 at 5 p.m. Many longtime customers turned to social media to express their dismay about the closure, which follows the shuttering of Capital One's Southold branch in 2017 — that property was purchased by Southold Town and will be used to site a new justice court — and the Cutchogue branch, which was closed in 2015. Capital One's office headquarters, located on Route 25 in Mattituck, closed in 2012; and the Riverhead branch bid adieu in 2017.
The Capital One banking branch, located at 11700 Main Rd. in Mattituck, remains open.

Amanda Landers, a representative for Capital One, responded to a request for comment: "We notified customers this week that the branch would be closing on May 9. There will be no changes to our customers’ accounts or their account numbers. As always, they can visit any Capital One branch and receive the same level of account access and high-quality service they’ve come to expect. We're working hard to make this transition as smooth as possible."
Landers added that Capital One encourages customers "to give us a call or stop by the Greenport branch to ask us any questions before it closes, so that we could show them the available options to bank at any time with Capital One with tools such as online/mobile banking and bill pay."

And, she added, good news for employees of the Greenport branch: "As part of this consolidation, we were able to ensure all of our associates could maintain their positions and move to other branches," Landers said.
Bank leaders recognize the effect closing the branch will have on customers "and do not take it lightly," Landers said. "As Capital One continues to evolve and optimize our branch network in response to changing customer banking preferences and to ensure we’re operating as efficiently and effectively as possible, decisions are made to open, renovate, and in some instances, close or relocate branches. We regularly review our entire branch network."
