Sea Tow Announces Death of Founder Captain Joe Frohnhoefer

A service will be held on Sunday.

Captain Joe Frohnhoefer, Founder and CEO of Sea Tow Services International, Inc., died on Tuesday in his home in Southold.

“Captain Joe was a visionary and always surrounded himself with great people. He connected individuals and different groups of people at all levels and always made sure people felt welcome and involved,” a message on the Sea Tow Facebook page reads. “Captain Joe never hesitated to share his thoughts and experiences knowing even if only one person heard his message; he felt he had accomplished his goal.”

Frohnhoefer had many jobs throughout his life and had been referred to as a “serial entrepreneur “, according to the message.

He first started out working at his business, Water Thrills, Inc. teaching water skiing, renting boats, parasailing, then worked as a bay constable, police officer, New York state trooper, EMT, volunteer fireman, industrial arts teacher, and electrician before starting Sea Tow.

“Captain Joe was always looking five steps ahead for the next opportunity and adventure -- he never stopped,” the message reads. “Captain Joe, you will always be the shining star guiding us all home safely.”

A service will be held on Sunday, March 29 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at The Wharf House at Founder’s Landing in Southold, according to SoutholdLocal.
