Car Crashes Into Local Cafe: Police

BREAKING: No injuries were reported, police said.

SOUTHOLD, NY — An elderly Baldwin woman crashed into a Southold eatery on Sunday, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, the accident took place at 5:05 p.m. at the Country Corner Cafe on Main Road when Margaret Hallden, 85, was driving a 2014 Subaru Forester, attempted to park her vehicle outside, and failed to hit the brake.

She then struck a porch support beam and the southwest corner of eatery, police said.

There were no injuries, and all patrons inside were unharmed, police said.

The Southold Town building inspector responded and found the building to be safe, police said.
