MATTITUCK, NY — For so many students who should have been enjoying senior year with prom, graduation, and other milestone events, the coronavirus crisis has meant that sadly, dreams and long-awaited celebrations have been put on hold.

Patch would like to shine a light on these amazing young people and their accomplishments; a new series "Celebrate Your Senior!" launched this week, inviting proud parents and others to spotlight the young people whose accomplishments can't be derailed by coronavirus.

Cathy and Tom Wilton nominated their son, senior Thomas Wilton.

"Tommy has worked hard to accomplish all that he has over the last 12 years in the Mattituck-Cutchogue School district," they said.

Their son, they said, has been dedicated to playing sports, including basketball, football, lacrosse and winter track, throughout his educational career — but his first priority has always been academics.

"He has put the time and effort into it to do as well as he has done," they said. "Even though many may think it comes easily to him, this kid has worked hard. We are extremely proud of the man he is becoming and know his future is bright. He might not have a speech to give at graduation but this kid is definitely going to make a statement in life. Keep shooting for the stars, Tommy!"

To be included in "Celebrate Your Senior!" send photos and a description of why you're nominating your senior to be featured in a Patch post to Lisa.Finn@patch.com. Tell them why you're proud of them and all they've accomplished. Let's celebrate our amazing kids!
