Community Joins Hearts To Fundraise For Friend's Memorial Service

GREENPORT, NY — Jane Parker, a longtime Greenport resident and familiar, smiling face at Orient By The Sea, lost her battle with cancer this week — and now, heartbroken friends are coming together to help fundraise for her memorial service.

A GoFundMe page, "Jane Parker Fund," was initially created to help with medical expenses but is now focused on a service to celebrate her beautiful life.

"Jane was diagnosed with cancer almost four years ago and fought with every ounce of her being," the page reads. "Unfortunately, on April 29 she lost her battle. As a long time resident of Greenport, Jane spent her life raising her three boys, working hard, and making people laugh. As this GofFundMe was originally created to alleviate living expenses while Jane was undergoing treatment, donations will now be allocated to alleviate expenses for a memorial service. Every donation, no matter how big or small could help her family in such a difficult time."
