Cooling Center Opened In Peconic

High heat and humidity have sparked the need for relief.

PECONIC, NY — As high temperatures and humidity blanket the North Fork Thursday, a cooling center has been opened to offer relief.

Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell said that the Peconic Lane Community Center, located at 1170 Peconic Lane in Peconic, will be open as a cooling center on Thursday until 7 p.m. for anyone looking for respite from the high heat and humidity.
