Crackdown At Limo Crash Site Leads to Six Violations: Police

A bus and limo checkpoint was set up at Depot Lane and Route 48 Saturday.

CUTCHOGUE, NY — A crackdown on limos and buses at the scene of last year's fatal limo crash on Depot Lane and Route 48 in Cutchogue Saturday led to six violations, police said.

A checkpoint was set up for buses and limos from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. by Southold Town Police and Suffolk County Police's motor carrier safety unit, police said.

During the course of the checkpoint operation, 15 traffic stops were conducted with seven Level-1 inspections, meaning the vehicles were brought into the checkpoint for complete inspection, police said.
