Crash In Greenport Knocks Out Power To Some Residents

BREAKING: A pole was knocked down on Moores Lane, officials say. Power is expected to be restored by 10 p.m.

GREENPORT, NY — A car crash in Greenport led to a power outage for some residents Friday night, officials said.

According to Greenport Village Mayor George Hubbard, the crash took place around 7:40 p.m. on Moores Lane; two poles were taken down in the one-car crash, knocking out power to parts of the village.

Two of the village's seven circuits were out after the crash; the plan, Hubbard said, was to tie two circuits that were out to a third, in order to power those homes without electricity. Power was expected to be restored by 10 p.m. Friday night, the mayor added.
