'Desperate Need' for Cat Adopters at North Fork Animal Welfare League

BREAKING: Kitten and cat adoptions are free for the entire month of September.

PECONIC, NY — The North Fork Animal Welfare League is bursting at the seams with cats and kittens — and is offering free adoptions throughout the entire month of September.

"We are in desperate need of cat and kitten adopters," said Gabrielle Stroup of the NFAWL, located on Peconic Lane in Peconic. "The shelter is overcrowded. We need your help."

The spike in felines had to do with a few hoarding cases recently, where a large number of cats were rescued, Stroup said.
