Dog Tossed In Dumpster Sparks Outpouring Of Caring
Not only are people coming forward to adopt a dog tossed by his leash into a dumpster, but a new effort in his name will help other pets.

NORTH FORK, NY — Just minutes after news broke about a dog who was tossed into a dumpster and abandoned — and is now waiting for a forever home on the North Fork — the phones began ringing at the animal shelter where he is waiting patiently for his new family.
In 24 hours, Justice has sparked a sea of love from people far and wide who want to erase the suffering he endured in his earlier life and offer him a second chance.
The response has been so incredible, said Gabrielle Stroup, director of operations for The League animal shelters in Peconic and Aquebogue, that now, a new effort has been launched in his name.

"The Justice Fund" will help other abused and neglected dogs, Stroup said. "We have other dogs waiting that are cruelty or neglect cases, that come from the kill shelters to us. The Justice Fund will go to helping get those dogs here, and ready for homes."
As for Justice, Stroup said The League has identified a few potential homes. Applications will be accepted through end of day Friday; next, there will be meet and greets with possible families and other dogs in the potential homes, she said.

"Then, we will let Justice decide who he wants his family to be," she said. "He is the most amazing dog," Stroup said.
Justice, all who have met him agree, has maintained his sunny disposition despite what he's endured: According to CVN News, Jason Keith Kelley, 40, ,and Tonya Marie Trapp, 41, both of Rome, Georgia were arrested in August, 2021 after "police said they tossed a live dog inside a dumpster at a children's daycare."
The CVN news report said that, according to police, Trapp threw the dog by the leash, which was attached to its neck, into the dumpster, closing the lid so he could not get free. A video has circulated that depicts what transpired.
But now, Justice was rescued and sent to The League in a transport, where Stroup said he's being showered with love.
"Justice is settling just fine here on Long Island. He has made friends with our staff and volunteers. He is the sweetest boy that likes his treats — he takes them gently — giving kisses. Providing Justice with a safe, warm space to spend his time in has been an absolute pleasure. However, we are looking for his forever family that will give him the love and life that he deserves," a League post about Justice said.
Stroup said it's hard to find the words to describe Justice's sweet nature. "He is perfect," she said, "I mean. perfect. Good with other dogs loves, loves, loves, people."
Justice is also crate-trained and good with other dogs, she said.
"He is the most amazing dog you will ever meet He is all wiggles and love!"
