Don't Miss: Greenport Jail Museum
One of Greenport's hidden treasures can be visited by appointment.

One of the best-hidden treasures in the village the Greenport Jail and Police Museum is just that — an old, early 1900s jail, complete with a cell.
Today, the building on Carpenter Street is closed but features photos and memorabilia from the Greenport Police Department, before Southold Town took over policing the village.
While the jail is only open on holidays or special event weekend, groups or classes can make reservations for a tour by calling 631-477-0248.
Who can share their memories of the jail? We want to hear all the old stories about this historical treasure. Share your stories with Patch in the comments section.
