Driver Charged With DWI After Crashing Into Parked Car: Police

Due to the severity of the crash, the driver, 18, was taken to the hospital for evaluation, police say.

EAST MARION, NY — An 18-year-old from East Marion was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after crashing his vehicle into a parked car in Greenport on Monday, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, the crash occurred at 10:22 p.m. on Main Street. Victor Flores Romero was arrested and charged with DWI, first offense; driving without a license; and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, police said.

Flores Romero was driving a 2006 Honda sedan north on Main St when he collided with a legally parked vehicle on the shoulder of the roadway, police said.

Flores Romero was determined to be intoxicated and was place under arrest; due to the severity of the crash, he was transported to Eastern Long Island Hospital for evaluation, police said. Flores Romero was then processed at Southold Town Police headquarters and held for arraignment, police said.
