Drunk Driver Caught 'Swerving All Over The Road': Cops

Another motorist called police after they saw him swerving on the road, authorities say.

GREENPORT, NY — A drunk driver was charged after he was caught "swerving all over the road" in Greenport, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, the incident took place on New Year's Eve at 6:29 p.m. on Route 48; Erikas Manerskas, 38, of Springfield, MA was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, first offense, aggravated DWI per se, no priors; and moving from lane safely, police said.

Manerskas was driving a 2010 Chevy Traverse and stopped by police after another motorist, who saw him "swerving all over the road," called authorities, police said.

Officers located Manerskas' vehicle and pulled him over after observing him failing to maintain his lane of travel, police said.

Upon further investigation, Manerskas was found to be intoxicated, arrested, transported to police headquarters, processed, and held pending arraignment in the morning, police said.
