Drunk Driver Crashes Car, Tries To Flee Scene: Police
The crash took place in Greenport Thursday night, police say.
GREENPORT, NY — A drunk driver crashed his car and tried to flee the scene, police said.
According to Southold Town Police, Yeri Esquivel-Reyes, 32, of Greenport, was arrested at 9:40 p.m. on Thursday on Bailey Ave. in Greenport. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle with BAC .08 of 1%, prior; driving while intoxicated, previous conviction in 10 year; and leaving the scene of an accident, police said.
Esquivel-Reyes was involved in a crash on Route 25 in the area of Bailey Ave., fled the scene on foot, and was located by responding officers a short distance away, police said.

Esquivel-Reyes was found to be intoxicated, placed under arrest, transported to Southold Police Department headquarters, where he processed and held for arraignment, police said. His vehicle was seized by police for a prior DWI conviction per Suffolk County Seizure Law, police said.
