Drunk Driver Hits Telephone Poles In Rollover Crash: Cops

The vehicle came to rest on its roof, police say.

SOUTHOLD, NY — A drunk driver hit two telephone poles and was involved in a rollover crash in Southold, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, the crash took place on Sunday at 2:25 a.m. on Route 25 in Southold. Yanet Garcia, 21, of Southold, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and driving without a license, police said.

Garcia was driving west at a high rate of speed on Route 25 in Southold near Albertson Marine when her vehicle left the roadway and struck two telephone poles, police said.

The vehicle overturned and came to rest on its roof in the westbound lane, police said.

Garcia was treated and transported to Easter Long Island Hospital by Southold Fire Department rescue for evaluation, police said.

An investigation at the scene and at the hospital determined Garcia was intoxicated at the time of the accident and she was arrested, police said. Garcia was held for morning arraignment after discharge from the hospital, police said.
