Drunk Driver Jumps Curb During Traffic Stop: Cops
The Greenport man was arrested early Sunday morning, police say.
GREENPORT, NY — A Greenport man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after he jumped the curb during a traffic stop early Sunday, police said.
According to Southold Town Police, Angel Colon, 48, was arrested on Sunday at 2:31 a.m. on 1st St. in Greenport and charged with DWI, first offense, operating a motor vehicle with .08 of 1% alcohol, first offense, operating a motor vehicle without an inspection certificate, and moving from lane unsafely.
Colon was observed driving a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound along Front Street in Greenport and failing to maintain his lane of travel while crossing over the solid double yellow lines, police said.

A traffic stop was initiated on 1st. St., where, before coming to a full stop, Colon drove the vehicle onto the curb and sidewalk, police said. Colon failed standardized field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest, transported to Southold Town Police headquarters for processing and held to await arraignment in Southold Town Justice Court, police said.
