Drunk Driver Nabbed In Mattituck: Cops

He's facing a felony charge, police say.

MATTITUCK, NY —A Port Jefferson man was slapped with a felony DWI charge after he was caught driving drunk in Mattituck, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, Gary E. McVeigh, 43, was arrested on Saturday at 10:07 p.m. on County Road 48 and Shirley Road in Mattituck and charged with driving while intoxicated, a felony.

McVeigh was driving a 2007 Mazda east on Route 48 when he was seen failing to maintain his lane of travel; he was stopped and determined to be intoxicated, police said.

McVeigh was transported to Southold Town Police headquarters, where he was processed and held to await arraignment at Southold Town Justice Court, police said.
