Drunk Man Caught Masturbating On Beach: Cops

GREENPORT, NY — An intoxicated Greenport man was caught masturbating at a popular beach, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, two female beach patrons, who were visiting the "67 Steps" beach Tuesday at 7:22 p.m. observed the man standing on the bluff of the park parallel to the beach end, masturbating "in public view."

By the time police arrived, he was gone, authorities said. During the investigation, a vehicle matching the description given returned to the scene and was stopped for a traffic infraction, police said.

Timothy Webb Clark, 53, was driving the vehicle and was the man who'd been seen earlier on the bluff; he was intoxicated, police said.

He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, public lewdness, and a traffic infraction, police said. Clark was transported to Southold Police headquarters where he was processed and held overnight to await arraignment at Southold Town Justice Court.
