Drunken Driver 'All Over The Roadway' In Greenport: Cops
He was driving in an unsafe manner and crossing over line markings, police say.
GREENPORT, NY — A Massachusetts man was arrested after he drove drunk in Greenport on Tuesday, police said.
According to Southold Town Police, the incident took place at 4:39 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 48 and Queen Street. Douglas J. Ely, 63, of N. Andover, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.
Officers responded to the report of a gray vehicle with Massachusetts plates "driving all over the roadway" and heading eastbound on County Rd 48; an officer was able to locate the vehicle and observed Ely driving in an unsafe manner and crossing over the line markings on the roadway, police said.

The vehicle was stopped and Ely was found to be intoxicated, arrested, transported to police headquarters for processing, and held pending arraignment, police said.
