Elderly Driver Crashes Into Trailer, 2nd Man Injured: Cops

The injuries to both were non-life threatening, police say.

SOUTHOLD, NY — An elderly man crashed into a landscape trailer and truck in Southold, injuring a man who was walking between them, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, the incident took place Wednesday at 11:49 a.m. on North Bayview Road when the driver, 76, of Southold, was heading south and collided with a landscape trailer and truck that was parked partially in the roadway.

The second man, 50, of Cutchogue, was struck by the trailer and suffered non-life threatening injuries; he was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Southold Fire Dept., police said. The elderly man sustained minor injuries and was transported to Eastern Long Island Hospital by Southold Fire Dept., police said.
