Elderly Woman Struck By SUV In Greenport
The woman, 82, was airlifted to the hospital after she was hit, police say. Do you think the intersection of Front and Main is dangerous?
GREENPORT, NY — An elderly Greenport woman was injured after she was hit by a car in Greenport on Saturday, police said.
According to Southold Town Police, the incident took place at 3 p.m. at the intersection of Front and Main Streets. John Simmons, 64, of Flanders, was driving a 2010 Ford Escape south on Main St. and was attempting to make a right turn on to Front St.in Greenport Village, police said.
Patricia Hodges, 82, a pedestrian, was walking north in the crosswalk at the intersection of Main and Front Streets when Simmons' vehicle entered the crosswalk and struck her, police said.

Hodges was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital by Suffolk County Police helicopter to receive treatment for her injuries, police said.
No charges were filed, police said.
