Enhanced Southold Beach, Fishing Patrols Net 94 Summonses: Police

SOUTHOLD, NY — Enhanced Southold beach and fishing enforcement patrols over the weekend resulted in 94 summonses, police said.

According to Southold Town police, the marine patrol unit conducted the patrols at Southold beaches. The summonses issued included the following:

Klipp Park/Greenport

- 19 Title 6 summonses, including catching undersized fish or exceeding the catch limit or season.

- 11 incidents of individuals fishing without a marine fishing license

- 5 vehicle and traffic law offenses, including one vehicle with switched plates, which was towed.

Bittner Preserve/ Soundview Dunes Park, Southold

- 9 incidents of fishing without marine fishing licenses.

- 11 non-Suffolk County residents using the park.

- 6 violations of vehicle and traffic laws, including one vehicle with switched plates which was towed.

Southold Town Beach

- 3 summonses for those with no marine fishing licenses.

Breakwater Beach, Mattituck

- 1 Title 6 summons

- 1 person without a marine fishing license.

Fifth Street Beach, Greenport Village

- 2 Title 6 summonses.

- 2 incidents of no marine fishing licenses.

Duck Pond Beach, Cutchogue

-1 Title 6 summons.

- 1 without a marine fishing license.

DEC Access Park, Southold

- 1 Title 6 summons.

The remainder of the summonses were issued for Southold Town code violations and parking violations, police said. Periodic beach and fishing patrols will continue for the remainder of the summer in response to residents' complaints.
