The public is invited to explore five private gardens in Cutchogue, Mattituck, East Hampton, and Montauk; open to visitors for self-guided tours to benefit the Garden Conservancy. No reservations required; rain or shine. Admission is $5 per garden; children 12 & under free. Begin at the Schrader & Smith garden, or see website for additional locations. Highlights include Peconic Bay Creek, Lake Montauk, and ocean views, multi-level decks and terraces, sculpture collections, hundreds of container plantings, a tiki hut of exotic plants, hemlock and privet hedges protecting edibles and favorite plants, a meadow garden, and croquet lawn.
