Fire Breaks Out In North Fork Home

The homeowner initially reported smoke pouring from the fireplace, police say.

SOUTHOLD, NY — A fire broke out in a Southold home early Tuesday, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, the fire was reported at 5:12 a.m. at a home on Oak Lawn Drive.

Police said they responded, along with the Southold Fire Department, to a report of smoke. The homeowner said smoke was coming from the fireplace, police said.

The Southold Fire Department "located and extinguished active flames in the basement," police said.

No one was injured, police said.
