Fire Breaks Out In Southold Storage Building

The Southold Fire Department quickly knocked down the fire, officials say.

SOUTHOLD, NY — A fire in a Southold storage building was quickly extinguished Saturday morning, officials said.

According to Southold Town Police, the incident took place at 7:44 a.m. on Hummel Ave. A passing motorist saw the smoke coming from the building, located on the south side of the street, police reported. Southold Fire Department was called and responded; the fire was quickly extinguished without any further incident or injury, police said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Southold Town Police Department and the Suffolk County Arson Squad, police said.
