Fire Rips Through Southold Home
BREAKING: The fire broke out in the house Thursday night; a woman who was home at the time was unhurt. See photos, video here.
SOUTHOLD, NY — Fire ripped through a Southold home Thursday night.
According to fire officials at the scene on Hortons Lane, a woman who was home at the time the fire broke out, just before 10 p.m., was evacuated safely.

Neighbors said they heard "popping sounds," and thought at first there were shots fired —but the sound came from breaking windows and the burning building.

Southold Fire Department and Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services were at the scene; an investigation is underway and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
