The Southold Fire Department quickly put out a small fire at a Main Road home in Southold on Sunday afternoon.
Firefighters received the call shortly after 4:30 p.m. and upon arrival they found there was a small fire in an upstairs closet.

The firefighters fought low temperatures and extremely slippery ground conditions to extinguish the fire quickly before it could spread to the rest of the house.
Greenport and Cutchogue Fire Departments also responded for mutual aid.

No injuries were reported.
The resident of the home, Humberto Lun-Gatica, 46, reports he did not know how the fire started.
