Former Town Officials Found Hunting Ducks After Close Of Season: PD

ORIENT, NY — A former town trustee and former town supervisor were issued warnings recently after they were found duck-hunting two days after the close of the season, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, on Nov. 29 at 8 a.m. former Southold Town Trustee John Bredemeyer, 71, of Orient, and former Town Supervisor Scott Harris, 72, of Orient, were seen duck hunting in Hallocks Bay two days after the close of duck season.

Southold Town bay constables responded by police vessel while a New York State Department of Environmental Conservation officer responded by land, police said. The pair was stopped on land and issued warnings for taking waterfowl out of season, police said.
