Free Narcan Training On North Fork To Mark International Overdose Awarness Day

NORTH FORK, NY — To mark International Overdose Awareness Day, free Narcan training will be offered on the North Fork soon.

Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital is hosting the event, which will be held on Monday, August 31, at 4 p.m. at the North Fork Shack, located at 41150 County Road 48 in Southold.

"International Overdose Awareness Day is the world's largest annual campaign to end overdose, remember those we have lost, support their families and loved ones, and raise awareness about prevention, treatment, and recovery," organizers said. "Take action by attending our free Narcan training to learn how to recognize an overdose, respond quickly — and help save a life."

Those participating are invited to join Community Action for Social Justice for the free naxalone training and learn how to recognize signs of an OD; how to administer Narcan; and what recovery resources are available on the North Fork.

Free Narcan kits will be distributed; the event will also include light fare and mocktails.
