SOUTHOLD, NY — If you're at your boiling point and need to let it all out, there's an event in Southold Thursday to help relieve stress.

The second annual free "Primal Scream" event takes place at 7:30 p.m. at Kenney's Beach. According to organizer Kerry Ruggi, the event is organized in partnership @the.collective.scream and @the.schoolofmom.

"I will lead you a short, quick, and beneficial 5-part scream which will release stress-anger-fear-frustration, stretch your jaw, and invite in some cold-clean-salt-air into your overworked bodies," she said.

Those participating can expect an opening welcome circle on the beach. Next, participants will find a space and face the water, then "scream it out," she said. "Scream all the words, freestyle scream, scream for those who can’t join and need this most — scream the longest your body allows."

The session will end with a closing circle and participants will "leave lighter," she said.

Ruggi added: "Grab a friend and give yourself permission to release any pent-up energy — let it find its way out of your body, your house, and into the air."

Southold Town Police have been notified that the event is happening, Ruggi said.

No sign up is required.

The event was first conceived by licensed clinical therapist Sarah Harmon, leader of The School of Mom, as seen on "The Today Show", the "Kelly Clarkson Show", and in a variety of publications. The meeting Thursday is convened by the Southold chapter of the group.
