Friends Surprise Man With 'Happy 50th Birthday' Drive By Party
Horns blaring and American flags flying, a steady stream of cheering, loving friends surprised a Mattituck man on his 50th birthday.
MATTITUCK, NY — Victor Rutkowski of Mattituck turned 50 on Saturday. Due to the stay-at-home order and new coronavirus self-isolating protocols, he was home, and not celebrating with a crowd, the way he may have during normal times. But in a huge show of community support, a caravan of more than 40 friends participated in a drive by celebration to make his day festive and show him how much he is loved.
Horns blaring, waving signs and cheering "Happy Birthday," friends turned out in force to make Rutkowski's day special.
Rutkowski, friend Kathie Cibulski said, is a partner in West Creek Builders LLC, a design and build construction company on the North Fork. He grew up on the North Fork and graduated from Mattituck High School.
