GoFundMe: Local Resident Starts Campaign to Save Shelter Island Fireworks

Resident Carla Biance started the page in March.

Local resident Carla Bianca recently launched a GoFundMe campaign in order to raise money to save the Shelter Island Fireworks.

According to the page, this year would mark the 58th year of the annual Fireworks Show at Crescent Beach.

However, the Shelter Island Chamber of Commerce cancelled this year’s fireworks, which were originally scheduled for Saturday, July 11, due to lack of donations and funding.

“It is time as a community that we do what we do best. . . Let’s come together and show them that you simply cannot cancel a tradition,” Bianca wrote on the page.

Since Biance created the page back in March, she almost reached her goal of raising $40,000 in total. As of Friday, $36,050 has been raised.
