Flatley said that Webb had sustained "non-life-threatening injuries."

On Thursday, Flatley said, "We are not done investigating this MVA, but we do have several statements from subjects that have witnessed the accident."

He added, "The MVA report does indicate that the bicyclist cut in front of the patrol car, but in any MVA investigation where there are serious injuries, PD vehicles being no exception, we impound the vehicle and conduct a safety inspection on the vehicle which includes making sure the brakes, tires and any other mechanical features of the vehicles were working properly."

Webb was treated by Greenport Fire Department Rescue at the scene and airlifted to Stonybrook University Hospital, police said. The accident closed the road in both directions.
