Greenport Man Arrested After Sending Indecent Photo To Someone He Believed Was 13-Year-Old Girl: PD

GREENPORT, NY — A Greenport man was arrested after sending an indecent photo to someone he believed was a 13-year-old girl, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, an investigation was launched into Corey Hooks, 37, of 5th Street after a report that he had responded to Topgolf in Holtsville on May 26 to meet someone he believed was a 13-year-old girl.

He'd met the girl on social media — and had previously sent her an indecent photo, police said.

Further investigation determined that Hooks possessed child pornography on his phone, police said.

Hooks was arrested and charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child, possessing a sexual performance by a child, attempted endangering the welfare of a child, and attempted dissemination of indecent material, police said.

Hooks was held at the Sixth Precinct for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on June 2, police said.
