Greenport Named 1 Of 10 'Cutest Small Towns In New York'
Greenport, and Montauk, made the Top 10 list of cutest small towns by World Atlas.

GREENPORT, NY — The word is out and world is now aware what locals have known for years: Greenport is a magical place.
A new post by WorldAtlas.com spotlights the "10 Cutest Small Towns In New York," places that "leave a mark of pure adoration in the hearts of those lucky to feel their glowing auras in life."
According to the post, Greenport is known as a sweet fishing village with fresh seafood and bucolic vistas, including water views, farm fields and charming homes that offer a "laid back and natural country vibe."

And what locals have know for years is that there's nothing like a day in Greenport, riding the carousel, heading out for some fun at Dances in the Park or watching pirates and mermaids a'plenty at the annual Maritime Festival.
Also named was Montauk, known for its "dramatic ocean cliff views," the Montauk Lighthouse and Ditch Plains, as well as surfers, food trucks, music, and Camp Hero, the former military base that inspired the Netflix hit "Stranger Things."

The site, which has belonged to the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation since the '80s, has a rich history and was a Revolutionary War cannon practice site.
According to Camp Hero State Park information, the camp itself was established in 1943 as a coastal defense site during World War II; the camp was demilitarized in 1949, and in 1951, the U.S. Air Force used the site for anti-aircraft artillery training.
But "Stranger Things" shone a new spotlight on the site, at first glance a sprawling 700-plus-acre expanse of trails, parkland, and dramatic bluffs dropping to the Atlantic Ocean beneath and beyond — not to mention the stunning view of the Montauk Lighthouse.
