Greenport Students 'Adopt A Platoon'

Caring young people are collecting provisions to help brave troops in need.

GREENPORT, NY — Greenport students are opening their hearts to help the nation's heroes.

The school's National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society are sponsoring an "Adopt A Platoon Collection Drive" to donate "much-needed commodities to troops in need."

Acceptable items include black or brown boot socks; instant foods — including Hormel Compleats meals, ramen, etc.— lip balm and hand cream; toothpaste and toothbrushes; granola bars or small cans of Pringles chips; dryer sheets; and disposable razors.

Collection drop-off can be found in the main lobby of Greenport Schools.
