Greenport Woman Falls Asleep While Driving, Hits Pole

A Greenport woman was hospitalized after she crashed into a pole in Cutchogue on Wednesday night, according to Southold Town Police.

Elissa Schlick, 46, was traveling west on Route 25 at about 9:23 p.m. when she hit a utility pole on Route 25 and Pequash Avenue, police said.

She told police she fell asleep at the wheel.

Schlick was transported by Cutchogue Fire Department to Eastern Long Island Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
