Heavy, Wet Snow Blankets North Fork
The wet, heavy snow has led to downed trees and power outages across the North Fork
SOUTHOLD, NY — A heavy snow blanketed the North Fork Tuesday, leaving some trees down and scattered power outages.
According to Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell, the snow started slow but began taking off around noon. "There's a lot of snow that's very heavy, and sticking to everything," he said. "The snow isn't light and fluffy, it's very wet and slushy."
There are some trees and wires down around town, the supervisor said. About 150 were without power Tuesday afternoon, mostly in the Cutchogue and New Suffolk area, with no major accidents reported, he said.

Russell added, "A few weeks ago, we had the bomb cyclone. I guess this one is the bomb snow cone, because that's what the snow feels like."
