Heroes Honored At 9/11 Ceremony, Presentation
A ceremony, "Remember 9/11", will be held at Jean Cochran Park in Peconic. Those present will be able to place flags in memory of the lost.

PECONIC, NY — Although 17 years have passed since the world changed forever on 9/11, the anguish and loss of that dark day live forever in the hearts of those remembering the lost.
The 9/11 Committee and the Southold Town Fire Chiefs Council have invited the public to an annual ceremony, "Remember 9/11," which will be held at Jean Cochran Park on Tuesday, Sept. 11 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a special ceremony at 6:30 p.m. by Division 8 of the Southold Town Fire Department. Those in attendance will be able to place 2,977 flags at the park in memory of souls lost that day.
Prior to the ceremony, a brief history of 9/11 will be given by Charles Sanders, commander of the Southold American Legion Post 803, at 4:30 p.m. at the Southold Town Recreation Center in Peconic.
