LIPA has been widely criticized over the past two weeks, with locals and politicians skewering the utility company over its performance and communication. On Tuesday, LIPA's COO, Michael Hervey, even announced his resignation.

At the same time praise poured in for the actual crews who worked for so long to restore power.

All the while, Election Day came and went, with one local rep – – even winning a race for a new district in the middle of the recovery effort, opening up the prospect of a special election in the next few months.
