Hundreds Of Teachers Come Together in Southold For EdCamp NOFO Friday

Hundreds of teachers will share their collective experience in a unique gathering to spotlight best practices Friday.

SOUTHOLD, NY — Teachers who share, collectively, hundreds of years of learning will come together Friday to exchange ideas and best practices.

More than 225 teachers from four school districts, including Greenport, Oysterponds, Southold and New Suffolk will participate in EdCamp NOFO on Friday from 8:30 a.m. until noon at the Southold Elementary School.

At the event, "A unique gathering of teachers will learn from one another as they share best practice in an unscripted set of professional development conversations," a release from Greenport/Southold Schools Superintendent David Gamberg said. "This model known as EdCamp is a teacher staff development process that takes place in schools throughout the United States."

The gathering, which takes place on St. Patrick's Day, will unfold with no students present. Visitors from the William Floyd School District who are interested in learning about the Ed Camp model will also be on hand.

"The teachers who will be attending the conference collectively possess hundreds of years of experience working with students," Gamberg said. "The EdCamp model of professional development honors and taps into that experience."
