Intoxicated Man Passes Out In Car With Foot On Accelerator: Cops
The engine smoked and overheated, police say.
GREENPORT, NY — An intoxicated man passed out in a car with his foot on the accelerator, causing it to smoke and overheat, police said.
According to Southold Town Police, Walter Alvizures-Gomez, 24, was arrested on Nov. 23 at 10:36 p.m. in the Adams St. parking lot in Greenport and charged with driving while intoxicated, first offense; operating a motor vehicle with a BAC .08 of 1 percent, first offense; driving without a license; second degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle; and drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle on a highway.
Southold Town Police received a report of a vehicle parked in the Adams Street parking lot with the engine accelerating and the driver passed out in the driver seat, authorities said.

Responding officers found Alvizures-Gomez passed out in the vehicle with his foot on the accelerator, causing the engine to smoke and overheat; he was removed from the vehicle, found to be intoxicated and subsequently placed under arrest, police said. He was transported to Southold Town Police headquarters, processed and held for arraignment, police said.
