Kait's Angels initiatives was organized to shine a light of good works in memory of Kaitlyn Doorhy, a former Mattituck Lion's Club Strawberry Queen who died when she was struck by a vehicle at 20 years old in 2014, while she was away at college.

According to the not-for-profit organization's mission statement: "Kait’s Angels provides financial support, emotional assistance, and other services to people with health issues, employment interruption, and other emergencies. We sponsor age appropriate school assemblies that deliver positive messages of reinforcement to young people in the community, deliver constructive inspiration through our various social media platforms, and aspire to ensure a progressive environment full of opportunity for our North Fork community."

Kait's Angels has been a beacon of light and hope for many facing the unthinkable, raising funds through the Poker Run, a well-loved Designer Handbag Wingo Night — coming up this year on Friday, August 4, at Peconic Bay Vineyards — and a yearly yard sale at the home of Joe and Darla Doorhy, Kaitlyn's parents.

Other initiatives include Buddy Benches placed at local schools and libraries to promote friendship and end bullying — and new Narcan stations placed at area schools.
